IMPORTANT NOTICE - There are several major issues with VideoPaper Builder. View our Known Issues page for descriptions of the issues and work-arounds.
Play/Stop Buttons
Click here to download an .avi movie of working with Play Buttons. The movie shows how to create, activate, and delete Play Buttons. The movie is approximately 6mb.
An important feature of VideoPaper Builder is the ability to add interactive links (PLAY/STOP buttons and Page Links) between text pages and segments of video. These buttons and links may be inserted, edited, and deleted at any time while working on a VideoPaper project.
Adding Play/Stop Button Links from to VideoPLAY/STOP buttons are inserted into Text Pages within the Text Editor, and link to selected segments of video. These selected segments may be programmed to play at normal speed (default) or at a fast, very fast, slow, or very slow playback rate. Buttons may be added at any time within Text Pages; Start and Stop times of the video segment may be added or edited at any time; buttons may be moved within the text page, deleted, or edited (changing the Start and Stop times or Playback Rate) at any time. There is no limit to the number of buttons that may be included in the VideoPaper Project.
To add a PLAY/STOP button, position the cursor at the desired place in
the selected text page. Click on the Insert Play button
,
located in the Toolbar. The Controller Settings dialog window will display.
Here you can set the start and end
times for
your PLAY/STOP button. The "Use Current" button will allow you
to set the time according to the current time of the video.

After you hit "OK," a button
will
appear in the text.
To preview the behavior of your PLAY/STOP button while in VPB, right-click (ctrl-click on a Mac) and choose Activate.

Selecting Video Segments
There are two methods for adding associated video PLAY/STOP segment
starting and ending times.
1.
To type specific start and end times: RIGHT-CLICK with your mouse (or
CTRL-CLICK
using a key combination) on the button. A Context Menu will appear with
options to Delete or Edit the button PLAY/STOP times. Click on Edit to
enter
or change associated video segment times. This method is best to use when
requiring very specific clip times.
2. To visually select a video segment, move the Movie Controller to the desired starting time of the segment to be selected. While hing the CTRL key down, drag the Movie Controller to the desired end point of the segment. The Movie Controller Timeline will darken to show the selected segment. While the selection is darkened, insert a PLAY/STOP button. This method is best to use when selecting video segments which have very visual start and end times, or to quickly select segments which are to be edited later via the alternate method.
