Working with Overlays

Click here to download an .avi movie of creating with Overlay tracks. The movie shows how to create and activate Overlay tracks. The movie is approximately 9.5mb.

Click on the Add New Track icon to add one or more overlays. The first new track will appear in the Timeline, beneath the Page Links track. Additional overlay tracks will appear beneath the last new track to be added. Click on the track to select it. The track will turn blue when selected.

Click on the New Track Content icon to add a new overlay to this track. This will open the Edit Overlay Segment Settings window, where you can begin to configure your new overlay. The window will display the first frame from the movie at the first point where the overlay will be inserted. (Overlays cannot be inserted on top of one another; new overlays will appear immediately to the right of the right-most existing overlay.)

Use the Drawing Tool to design an overlay shape. You can manipulate its shape using this tool, or adjust its width and height (in pixels) by entering values in the spaces below. You can position the overlay using the Position Tool , or define its positioning by entering values in the X and Y boxes below.

Further define your overlay by clicking on the "Track..." button, which takes you to the Edit Overlay Track Settings window. Here you can

Return to the Edit Overlay Segment Settings window by clicking on "OK." Now click on the "Set Time..." button to assign display times to the overlay. Enter these manually, in the following syntax:
