IMPORTANT NOTICE - There are several major issues with VideoPaper Builder. View our Known Issues page for descriptions of the issues and work-arounds.

Creating Slides

Click here to download an .avi movie of working with Slides in the Timeline. The movie shows how to create, edit, and delete Slides in the Timeline. The movie is approximately 5mb.

Images to be viewed as SLIDES, which appear and disappear in the SLIDE frame at set times during the viewing of the MOVIE, are inserted in the Timeline Window.

Images saved using file formats .gif or .jpg may be used. For more general information about file formats or image sizes, see our Images page.

The Slideshow may be previewed in the Browser Window of the VideoPaper Builder Interface, in the Slide Frame. Changes made to the Timeline Window are updated automatically in the Browser Window.

To create a new Slide, click on the Slide row to activate it (activated rows are highlighted in blue) and then click on the NEW TRACK CONTENT icon, located in the Toolbar across the top of the Timeline Window. An Untitled Slide will appear in the Timeline Row, set at the default start time of 0:00.

Importing and Arranging Images to be Viewed as Slides

Click on the Slide to be edited; the arrows on each side showing its Start and End times will become highlighted in blue to show that it is activated.

Click on the TRACK CONTENT INFO icon, located in the Toolbar across the top of the Timeline Window, while the Slide is activated. A dialog box will open, containing the option to enter a Slide Title and to locate an image (PATH) on the computer hard drive.

Browse to the image file; click OK. A ‘thumbnail’ or miniature of the selected image appears in the Timeline; its default location is at the far left, or at 0:00 time.

To adjust when the Slide will appear as the video is played, drag on the Slide image to move it to the desired location or Start time. Drag on the Right and Left arrows at each side of the Slide image to change its duration during the movie.

Slides cannot overlap each other. To DELETE a Slide, click on the TRASH icon, located in the Toolbar across the top of the Timeline Window, while the Slide to be deleted is activated. Slides can be edited or deleted at any time.

Importing Other Media to be Viewed as Slides

When creating a Slideshow within the Timeline Window, other media may be applicable to the VideoPaper project. Formats which may be imported to be viewed as Slides are:

Animated images (.gif, .fla), text (.html or .htm), movie files (.mov)

Some of these file types may not appear as ‘thumbnail’ images within the Timeline Window; however, they will be playable within the exported VideoPaper.

Note on applets: it is also possible to work with applets as slides. However, they cannot be included in the VideoPaper during development - they must be added after publishing. In order to do this:

1) the applet must be referenced (using either a relative or remote path) in the published HTML file;

2) the applet must be copied manually into the VideoPaper folder after it has been published, into the folder called "slide/data."
